About us
A licensed, insured plumbing company based at 1 Liberty St in Lower Manhattan, working in apartments, brownstones, co-ops and commercial buildings across the five boroughs.
Why NYC Plumber Co
NYC Plumber Co is a licensed plumbing company based at 1 Liberty St in the Financial District. We repair, install and maintain plumbing, heating and gas systems in New York City buildings - the prewar walk-up with a galvanized riser, the Park Avenue co-op with a board that reads every document, the Brooklyn brownstone with a clay sewer under the sidewalk, the restaurant that cannot close for lunch. Work runs under a licensed master plumber, the company is insured, and every job starts with a written price.
The company was built around one observation: plumbing in this city is harder than plumbing anywhere else, and most of the difficulty is not the pipe. It is the building. The alteration agreement, the certificate of insurance at the building's limits, the 9-to-4 work window, the freight elevator that has to be reserved, the super who holds the only key to the riser valve, the DOB filing, the DEP permit, the utility's restoration sequence after a gas shutoff. A plumber who is good with a wrench and bad with all of that costs you time and money. We set out to be good with both.
We are also small enough that the person who answers the phone knows the buildings - the plumber who came last time, or the dispatcher who sent him. We keep notes on every building we service: where the shutoffs are, what the board requires, which stack always clogs. The second visit is faster than the first.
Twelve services, one company, all five boroughs. Every service below has its own page covering the problems we see most in New York buildings, what moves the price and what the visit looks like.

Gas work and permitted plumbing in NYC belong to a licensed master plumber by law. Our license and insurance certificates go to your management company before the visit.
Alteration agreements, certificates of insurance, work windows, freight elevators, shutoff notices, super coordination. We do the paperwork so the plumber can do the plumbing.
A camera before a sewer quote. Instruments before a wall opens. A pressure check before blaming the water heater. The cheapest repair is the one for the actual problem.
LAAs, gas pressure tests, DEP sewer permits, backflow reports, Local Law 152 inspections. Filed by us, documented for you.
When a repair is a bad idea we say so. When a replacement can wait until spring we say that too.
New York City regulates plumbing more tightly than almost anywhere in the country, and it does so for reasons the city learned the hard way. Only a licensed master plumber can perform gas work or file plumbing permits with the Department of Buildings. Buildings face periodic gas piping inspections under Local Law 152, natural gas alarm requirements under Local Law 157, annual boiler inspections, backflow prevention testing through the Department of Environmental Protection, and heat and hot water rules enforced by HPD.
NYC Plumber Co works inside all of it. Certificates of insurance issued to your building. Permits pulled and closed. Inspections scheduled and attended. Reports delivered for the building file. If a plumber tells you a job in this city does not need paperwork, ask again.
From the office at 1 Liberty St, our plumbers cover Manhattan from the Battery to Harlem, with dedicated pages for the Financial District, Tribeca, Chinatown, the East Village, Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Midtown, the Upper East Side and the Upper West Side. We also serve Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, with honest windows for the parts of those boroughs that are far from downtown. Emergency plumbing runs around the clock everywhere we work.
